One page covers both your copy of your data and the end of your account. It is headed Privacy & data, and it sits under Data & deletion in the account menu.

Requesting a copy of your data

The Download my data card produces an export of what Clouduxe holds for your account. The panel lists what that covers: your profile, your addresses, your invoices, your services, your support tickets, and your audit log.

Choose Request export. One of two things follows.

  • The download starts in your browser there and then, and the panel tells you the export is ready.
  • Nothing downloads, and the panel tells you a download link will follow by email.

Which one you get depends on how quickly the billing system can assemble the file, not on anything you chose.

If the download fails and the panel says "Export unavailable", request it again. If it keeps failing, open a ticket and ask for the export directly.

This export covers your account. It does not include what is on your servers. Copy anything you need off the server itself while it is still running.

Closing your account

The control is the Close my account card at the bottom of the page. Close account opens a dialog headed "Close your Clouduxe account?", which asks you to type DELETE MY ACCOUNT into the confirmation box exactly as written, in capitals, and offers an optional box, "Why are you leaving? (optional)", for a reason.

The closure dialog, ready to submit. The button stays disabled until the box reads DELETE MY ACCOUNT exactly; its wording is permanent, but what it files is a support request. Example view.

The submit button is worded as a permanent closure. What it does is file a support request on your account titled "Account closure request (GDPR)", carrying your reason if you gave one. Somebody will come back to you before anything is processed.

Opening a ticket yourself reaches the same place. If the form gives you trouble, open a ticket and ask for your account to be closed.

Do these first

Because nothing happens automatically, the order matters. A closure request does not stop billing, so asking for closure while your services are live leaves you with services you are still paying for.

The same request at the start and at the end. Asked first, it leaves your services running and invoiced; asked last, after the steps below, your cancellations have already stopped the next invoice. Illustration.
  1. Cancel your services

Cancelling is what stops the next invoice, and a closure request does not do it for you. See Renewal and cancellation for how cancellation works and when it takes effect.

  2. Settle anything outstanding

Check Invoices for anything unpaid. An open balance is the usual reason a closure request stalls.

  3. Copy off anything you want to keep

Take what you need off the server while it is still running, over SSH or your usual transfer tool, covered in Connecting to your server. If you keep credentials in the Vault, reveal and copy those out too.

  4. Request your data export

Do it while the account is still open, using Request export above, and keep the file with the rest.

  5. Then ask for closure

Through the Close my account card, or through a ticket. Either way, expect a reply rather than an immediate change.
